I have spent an entire week with no form of communication on me in order to forcus in on some skills with my camera and also looking at some more botanical aspects of photography. I should really start learning the names of the plant and the properties that they have but for now I am focusing on the actual technique with which they are shot.
Sticking to the standard lens I have tried to focus as closely as I can to the aspect of each plant which interests me. For example the way in which the stem protrudes through the image taking full frame and yet leaving an outline of what surrounds it.
I am finding more and more that still life and objects provide and interesting relationship for me. Creating questions of position, colour, light, height, direction of the camera.
I am not very good when it comes to the modern camera and using a tripod, I find it cumbersome annoying. Without it I have a freedom of movement which encourages me to look into creating a very three dimensional look to the piece before it is photographed.
Anyway take a look at the images from my vacation.
