From the Thai Island

There are two people in my life who are sources of inspiration, one is my friend Toni and the other is my wonderful man James, as can probably tell from the many pictures that crop up of him. He is by no means the most confident man in front of a camera and if I am honest Toni is not overly keen on it either but that sit in front of my camera and they look amazing. The following images are just a few from the holiday I just went on with James to Phuket, it was my first trip to Asia and, even though the jet lag on the way back almost killed me , I hope it will not be my last.

More images to come.

Fund raising for the Alzheimer's Society

Please go to this page and donate.

http://www.justgiving.com/Charlotte-Barker2

I am selling prints to raise money for them, prints are 12" x 16" and come on a variety of papers. They are on a first come first serve basis so whoever donates first gets the image, but not unless you donate more than £1.

It's a wonderful charity so I hope you can all help!

Cornwall

So it has been a whole week since I have been blogging people but I had to leave London for a little bit to keep my beautiful head from actually going round the bend. Not off to a good constant start with the blogging though am I.

I have spent an entire week with no form of communication on me in order to forcus in on some skills with my camera and also looking at some more botanical aspects of photography. I should really start learning the names of the plant and the properties that they have but for now I am focusing on the actual technique with which they are shot.

Sticking to the standard lens I have tried to focus as closely as I can to the aspect of each plant which interests me. For example the way in which the stem protrudes through the image taking full frame and yet leaving an outline of what surrounds it.

I am finding more and more that still life and objects provide and interesting relationship for me. Creating questions of position, colour, light, height, direction of the camera.

I am not very good when it comes to the modern camera and using a tripod, I find it cumbersome annoying. Without it I have a freedom of movement which encourages me to look into creating a very three dimensional look to the piece before it is photographed.

Anyway take a look at the images from my vacation.

Sarah's Jewellery

I have been extremely lucky in the last few years to come into contact with one of the most motivated and amazing jewellery designer. Her name is Sarah Birt and she is fabulous. One of the kindest and nicest people I know and she works incredibly hard at everything that she does, pushing herself to the point at the moment where she has hurt her wrist from working to hard :)

These are the images that I have taken for her to put on her sites and things and hopefully soon I will be able to show you some of her new things actually on models. I love working with Sarah as she has an amazing amount of trust in what I do.

If you like her stuff check it out on etsy (second star to the right) and she has a blogg too Sarah Birt Jewellery.  I hope you love it as much as I do.

A Tribute to the boy

Before I go any further with my blogg I feel the need to show you the man who has put up with the amazing amount of crazy that I have thrown at him. He nags me and keeps me motivated with my work and if it weren't for him and my parents I believe I would have lost it by now. They provide a huge support for me.

This is my other half James, and if I say so myself he look gorgeous in these photo's. I do think that is mostly to do with the amazing photographer I am, but hey that's just me being modest :)
